BioTrek is a personal field-notes tool for recording animal sightings. You must use the service lawfully and must not misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it.

You retain ownership of sightings, notes, and photos you add. You are responsible for having the right to upload them and for checking any on-device identification before relying on it.

For bird records, you authorise BioTrek to share any bird sounds, images, and locations you submit with Cornell's eBird libraries for identification, population mapping, and possible use in training or improving their recognition models. This helps support Cornell and the wider scientific community. Additional database providers may be added in the future.

BioTrek identification results are suggestions, not expert advice. Follow local wildlife guidance, stay aware of your surroundings, and do not approach animals for a better record.

We have the right to update these terms, and any other BioTrek policy, whenever we choose. We may also add further database providers or scientific partners in the future. Continued use of the service after an update means you agree to the revised terms and policies. If you do not agree, you must stop using BioTrek.
